SALVATION

IF YOU DIED TONIGHT WOULD YOU BE IN HEAVEN OR HELL?

HEBREWS 9:27 Says: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”. The Bible says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life,…”. (I John 5:13) God wants us all to know that we can go to Heaven, but if we expect to get there we must go His way.

We are all sinners.

What does God’s Word teach about this all important subject? First of all, we are all sinners. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)

Because of our sin, we are under sin’s penalty, which is death. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23).

This penalty means eternal separation from God in hell.

Christ died for our sins.

God does not want anyone to go to hell, so He sent His only begotten Son to die and pay the penalty for our sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

Eternal life is God’s gift.

God’s love for us is so great that He made a way for our sins to be forgiven. He offers His forgiveness and salvation freely. “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Please note that eternal life is offered to you as a gift. But like all gifts, it is not yours until you receive it. To receive Christ is to receive life – eternal life, a home in Heaven.

How to receive Christ:

Here is how you may receive Christ: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) You must believe with all your heart, and call on the Lord to save you. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(Romans 10:13).

You must repent.

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:” (Acts 17:30)

To repent literally means to have a change of mind (or spirit) toward God and toward sin. It means to turn from your sins, earnestly, with all your heart, and trust in Jesus Christ to save you. You can see, then, how the man who believes in Christ repents and the man who repents believes in Christ.

The jailer repented when he turned from sin to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
